Recommended MINERAL Oil for old high mileage diesel engine
« on: August 30, 2011, 07:07:58 PM »
Starting a new topic for our thrifty oil burners recommended lubricant.

Mga diesel users, next oil change na po for our 98 hilux next month. total rubia yata na 15w-30 oil na gamit ngayon (TOTAL RUBIA TIR 6400 FE 15W30 CG-4 and ACEA E3 rated).

Oil is still ok since oil change 8 months ago. The truck was not used for about 2 months and less than 5k from the day it was changed.
Well, it is good oil for its price but during the summer months, medyo sluggish konti yung acceleration pero maganda (free revving and mas tahimik pag 130-140kph) na after summer. Engine has no turbo.

Preference would be this one ELF PERFORMANCE VICTORY PLUS 15W40 CI-4 and ACEA 04 E7/A3/B3/B4, ACEA 02 E5/E3/B3/B4/A3 rated.

Any other good oils for this old engine?
Is Motul or Valvoline good?

Should I stick to API rated na CF and CG since CI rated would be more appropriate for new diesels like this one ELF PERFO 3F 15W40 API CF-4,CE/SH
• ACEA E2? Or better retain the 15w-30 Rubia  CG-4 from Sept. to Feb and the Elf CF-4 15W-40 from March to August.

Delo Gold Multigrade 15W40 is a good mineral oil for diesels.

Motul does not have mineral oils anymore locally. The nearest to mineral would be a semi-synthetic, the Multipower 15W50.

Have used Caltex Delo Gold yet the TOTAL is more responsive at cruising to max speeds.

I am testing into native Euro brands and JASO rated oils. Is the Multipower for gas engines and if would be applicable to diesel engines ,I  prefer these two 10w-40 semi-synth for diesels 4100 Multi Diesel 10W40 and 4100 Turbolight 10W40

but iwas pusoy lng mineral 2000 Multidiesel 15W40 muna. Me issue kasi mga old diesel like the 3L sa crankshaft rear oil seal leaking. Dati me konting leak when about 150k pero nung Toyota, rimula x/caltex pa gamit na oil. Sa TOTAL no leak, hindi ko lang alam kung sa internals papuntang tranny na lumipat (ala naman sa bell housing) pero dapat by gravity it should be there. Pag nagbukas na ng engine siguro mag semi synth.

Sir, how much does this cost? other forum says about 1800 per gallon.  Mahal ng motul  CH-4 rated no ACEA rating. Outsource kaya ng Motul sa iba ito?

The multipower is sl/cf rated so it can be used for diesel. Compared to the 15w40 multidiesel before and it was more responsive even though it was 15w50.

The total being a 30 weight would really be more responsive than the delo because its lighter.

copy on that ; while reading on the posts of a similar topic, di daw nila nagustuhan performance ng mineral mutidiesel. I guess mas ok talaga synthetic/semi blend ng mga Motul oils.

Actually, I am in Mindanao (Davao). Kinukulit ko na nga suking autosupply lagi dito na sana me makuha siya supply ng ELF. Meron siya Repsol, Petronas and some smuggled  :ban:  brands getting into the City of durians and bananas    :wav:

Mineral motul oils have long been discontinued in our market at least for cars due to high cost.
