yes... due to may limit ang shutter life ng camera body. Some manufacturer estimated the shutter life around 100k shots. But not all the time eh nasusundan yun. some can exceed 100k shutter life some are less. possibly around 60k shots. Some Professional users like wedding Photographers can reach the limit of shutter life within 1 year, so warrantied units pa sila free of charge ang palit. hehe! (info from Canon users..)

Shutter Life...

On wedding, there is not much despite of any Pro who can book 10 weddings in a year. For any Wedding Coverage, standard contract is 108shots (36shots x 3 rolls) up to a maximum of 216shots (36shots x 6 rolls) for cameras using standard films. That should yield 2160shots/ year not unless you overdo it.

Thus, 100,000 shots/ 2160 shots = 46 years... conservatively 20 years before servicing.  ;D

But those who were handling schools and events has a more rigid itineraries and this spells replacement every 2 years.  ;)

Numbers I am sharing above were out from 4 decades with camera long before you guys were born.  8)

my take on shutter actuation counts is purely purpose...

*hobby
*business

no need to define further. why? because DSLRs are a thing of the present and still undergoes constant revisions and enhancements from the manufacturers. this equates to newer replacements coming out at incredible lead times. the evolution of DSLR models are insanely fast to the point that its now turning into something like computer models and upgrade parts. yes, you just bought a new shiny DSLR today, come 3 months or so (or maybe less), a new one comes out topping your now OLD DSLR which you invested a great amount of savings on. catch my drift? :sign13:

unless you're looking into somewhat a classic or iconic model of SLR like the canons and nikons of the 80's to mid 90's, then a real need for brainstorming is a must.

boys, between nikon and canon, sino sakanila ang mas mabilis mag palit ng model. Kahit ba hindi sa canon shops mo binili yung unit, lets say any shop sa hidalgo, will canon still service it in case kelangan ng repairs? TIA!

halos sabay lang sa mga entry level models. sa canon, yung 1D lang yung na-observe ko so far na nagdaan na sa numerous revisions.

regarding servicing, i believe nasagot na namin yan last night at temple drive.

I didnt receive any text from him...

But anyways... as for Canon, kahit san mo binili yung unit Canon will still accept it for servicing. Though it will be considered as out of warranty unit. This goes the same for Nikon. But, Nikon may charge a higher rate with gray units or units bought from other country when you have it serviced with Columbia, compared to units that have local warranty. But if you wish to get the D90, better weight your option if you wish to get gray units or local warranty with 2 years warranty. But if maingat ka naman sa gamit mo... the only thing you need to work on the camera is the cleaning service being offered by the service center. Minsan hindi natin maiwasan magkaroon ng dumi sa loob specially if you change lens from time to time. but syempre pwede rin gawing DIY yan, blower lang ang katapat. hehe!

Rick kung-fu mastah. I texted you too  :)

I want to say D90 but... but... ang ganda talaga ng video feature ng Canon.

Pero kung pics quality... D90.

If peace of mind warranty... Canon.

Pero bihira bumisita ng service center ang... Nikon

Nakakalito ...    Panasonic na lang  ;D
