Tasty: Look for it in Wilson street, Greenhills. Nice quaint place but then there is so little parking (the place can probably pack 50+ but there is only room for 5 cars). The food is good and it's cheap. You can be stuffed with just 100 bucks worth of food and drinks and it will be more than what you may usually eat at Jollibee or McDo. Try their porkchop rice or dumpling noodles. It's supposed to be their bestsellers. Great place to have dinner with family.

Best time to go there: 7:00pm on a Sunday. Get there around 15 minutes later and people coming from mass and badminton games will flock the place so try to time it right ;D

Is this the same Tasty Dumplings with the one in Banawe? Their porkchop, dumplings, and fried bread (tama ba?) is really good. Yung fried chicken leg nila ok din.
In a world of compromise, some don't.

EB? EB? :D Woops off topic na ;D hehehe ;D

There's a popular resto here in the Pasong Tamo extension area, right beside the Starcbuks coffee shop.

Cantinetta: Italian resto with lots of good food and wine. You get a good helping of baked bread bursting with basil aroma for free if you just ask :D Remember to dip it in an olive oil and vinegar mixed with parmesan to make you anticipate the main course even more :D It's also a bit pricey, similar to Italianni's price but then the food is just superb. Definitely better than Italianni's wherein it's a bit modified to cater to a more pop generation. Try out their Margheritta pizza. Best i've ever tried since I went to a Roman pizzeria a few years ago :D !

Oh, ambience ;) it gets a bit noisy at times since the kitchen is open but you can stay in the smoking area so that it's more quiet (but of course, you will smell like a pack of cigarettes afterwards :P) and the sounds? A bit jazzy and chill :)

Ka Zoku Tei? How come? I found it to be a good place, especially their variants of fried rice. It's just expensive though

Try nyo Oyster Boy (they have 2 branches, one sa Greenhills Shopping center and the other sa Meralco Avenue). Food is good and price is very very reasonable. Nice hang out place coz the resto turns into a bar after 10pm. Dami drinks and cocktails. Beer (san mig light), if I'm not mistaken is only 20 or 25 bucks.

I think you are referring to chawan mushi. Its actually baked egg white.

If you're really looking for authentic Japanese food, I suggest you head for Little Tokyo along Pasong Tamo near Makati Cinema Square. A notable place there is Izakaya Kiku Fuji.

I agree ;D !!! Food here is excellent, not to mention they give free iced coffee (Brent said before it was Yakult. Too bad I never knew about the restaurant back then  :-[ ) Authentic setting as well. We are talking about bright walls and lighlt laminated wood panels, with the sushi bar in the middle flocked by a lot of people, thus making it really noisy. Don't be fooled by it's lack of luster. This is the place where businessmen bring their clients so do not be surprised to see some bigshots dining there. Food is a bit expensive though ;D

o nga! sarap ng Jap food dyan.

tasty dumpling?! buhay pa din ah... first time I had chow there was i think 12 years ago.. sa banawe branch before they transferred to retiro.

some places i really like:

Tempura - in greenhills (teriyaki boy copy); but i think its better.

Katre - med fusion resto, formerly toque beside alfredo's in tomas morato

Marina - love the oysters!

UVA - greenbelt 3

Hua Ting - chinese resto sa ground floor ng Heritage (pag libre lang.. i remember 1 bowl of sharks fin soup, good for one priced at P3,000)

O nga pala for those residing near san juan, i suggest you try out moksha bar and resto. beside gloria maris and near alex 3. its a nice quaint place with nice interiors, good food and drinks. perfect for kwentuhan.

pang EB?  :)

Yeah it's an ok place :) A friend showed it to us one time ;) Problem lang yung parking since it doesn't really have any except the little space in front of it and just sometimes uses the Alex III parking so when Alex III closes, alisan lahat sa place na yun since they close it with chains :P

Oh, it gets a bit smoky there sometimes since San Juan doens't have those smoking regulations :P

I love the place though :D Nice mellow light :) And beer  is at a reasonable price there too ;D
