o nga! sarap ng Jap food dyan.

tasty dumpling?! buhay pa din ah... first time I had chow there was i think 12 years ago.. sa banawe branch before they transferred to retiro.

some places i really like:

Tempura - in greenhills (teriyaki boy copy); but i think its better.

Katre - med fusion resto, formerly toque beside alfredo's in tomas morato

Marina - love the oysters!

UVA - greenbelt 3

O nga pala for those residing near san juan, i suggest you try out moksha bar and resto. beside gloria maris and near alex 3. its a nice quaint place with nice interiors, good food and drinks. perfect for kwentuhan.

pang EB?  :)

Tempura does not taste authentic. Its one of those fastfood pseudo Japanese restaurant types.

Oh yeah, I saw that Moksha place on TV yesterday I think. I was trying to figure out where I saw that place. Its on Abad Santos St., beside Mann Hann right?

Uva has good food and good ambience, it used to be in Tomas Morato.

Mr Choi's fried chicken is one of the best I have ever tried!!!  ;D  ;D  ;D

Pangit lang nga one time I was there I saw the Cantonese cook wearing a Gloria Maris apron hehe

Baka moonlighting yun chef. Sideline siya sa Mr. Choi's! hehehe

im surprised no one has mentioned  "mr choi's kitchen"... they have awesome baked rice... kaso medyo madumi na un upuan nila ksi orange...

So where is this Mr Chois Kitchen Located? :D

Hmmm.. for me UVA has good ambience and although I do not seem to be a fan of the food. There was a time when I orddered fried duck triangles and for some strange reason, it tasted like a tuna lumpia.

For places with acceptable food but with a good wine selection, try these 3 places:

Magnum (Greenbelt 2)
Cork (Powerplant Mall, Rockwell)
Gourmand (Net One Building, Fort Bonifacio)

They are good date places too ;)

Mr Choi's Kitchen is located in Robinson's Galleria, beside Gold's Gym. The chef wasn't moonlighting, he used to work in Gloria Maris lang I believe  ;D
In a world of compromise, some don't.

Ebisu: It's in the new Eastwood mall. 2nd floor, on top of Starbucks and beside O Music Records. It's supposed to be a bar/ resto. Modern Japanese minimalist seems to be the theme of the place. Good food also. Priced reasonably as well. Dim yellow lights coupled with a loungy background music makes this a great hangout place :)

Pershana: Middle-Eastern type of food place. It's in the small food/shops complex in the street perpendicular to Katipunan. (also the street where McDonald's Katipunan is, hehe I forgot the name ;) :P)  Good food, reasonable prices, they also have a hookah. hehe! ;D

They used to be located in Makati, on Jupiter.

Service sucks at Sugi. Its like you owe them money. Food is good though. I love their tofu steak!

Yeah I agree that Sugi service is not up to par to the ambience and price that they give to their food. They can't even allow you to have their teapot left in your table so that you don't keep on asking for more. >:( Presentation wise, yeah it's good. Food, yep not bad although for some strange reason it doesn't taste as special as it looks.

Just tried Pepato in Greenbelt 2 last night. Excellent place. Looks really sassy, although I have a feeling that it can collapse anytime soon when you look at it from the outside, with all it's glass floors and metal braces. Inside, though, it's a nice quite place with a healthy amount of yellow light. The walls are decorated with various designs of pepper shakers. Food is good, although their house wine leaves a lot to be desired for the kind of place that it is. It's a bit on the expensive side, though. I found myself shelling out more than 1k for a 2 table dinner. But then the service is excellent. Waiters are very courteous and I have observed that they have been trained to accomodate foreigners because their English proficiency left me impressed. They are always aware of their surroundings too, since I spilled a glass of water and they were immediately prepared to change the table cloth. I believe their sea bass dishes are the crowd favorite. It's the same owner of Cibo and Cafe Bola, so it's more on the poppish Italian cuisine, but still expect the same great taste :D
