Hi Guys!

For me, Pioneer PDP-434HDG Plasma TV. Super clear yung picture, especially if you use component (RGB) video input from your DVD player. It has a built-in TV Tuner and many more capabilities. Very slim too! Price though is quite expensive but I'm getting one within the year! ;D

Hi KBH!

I also looked at Panasonic and Toshiba, and they're both nice. Got a chance to see Samsung too. And yup, the pricing between these brands and the Pioneer are quite far from each other. I'm just more inclined on the Pioneer since I can get it for a special price, but of course, before purchasing one, I'll take another deep look at other PDPs. What can you suggest?

 :)

i love my panasonic... i mean for it price and performance of it...

pioneer is way too much overpriced when i asked around... even if you get a good price its still expensive...

try to go to listening in style in shang.. they have many brands on display and when you look at it... other brands are better thank pioneer... if you look at it closely and side by side you'll notice the diff.. its hard if you see a plasma in one shop then comapre it with another on the other shops.. they should be side by side for comparison...

Toshiba are considered the best from what i know but quite pricy too..

i suggest you go to shops that has many plasma on display... different brands not like you go to pioneer shop that sells only pioneer.. you that you can compare it.. also check out the features too..

i bought my pana without speakers, tuner and everything just the plasma.. then just buy a reciever, speaker and tv tuner... will not cost you that much considering the tuner of the pana cost aroudn 50k i think

goodluck bro

Hi KBH!

Thanks for the advice. I've gone to LIS in Shang before already, and yup, marami pang ibang maganda. I was just amazed by the Pioneer's clarity when I saw one in display. I'll take another look at Toshiba. A friend of mine quoted me a model, 42WP37, with the tuner already and without speakers for a price way lower than the Pioneer, although I still haven't (or I can't recall) actually seeing this model yet. I'll check it out too.

 :)

yeah check it out just to be sure... the owner of LIS jeff is a good friend of my bro and i, we asked him advices and his preferences... and pioneer is not one of them even if he sells some units of it...

just make sure you buy a good one because it  will last you years... mamaya magkamali ka pa ang regret it... also buy the hdtv compatible plasma... in the future i gues meron na rin dito at a affordable price... meron na dito pero medyo mahal and puro jap channels lang nakukuhang signal.. but ganda sobra.. mas malinaw pa sa dvd and hdtv signal

Im using a Sony 34 inch 16:9 widescreen DRC TV that is HD and progressive scan ready.  It has one HD input, two component (RGB) inputs and three S-Video inputs aside from the usual composite input.  I only use the TV as a monitor (DVD and PS2 only) so I hooked up my Pioneer progressive scan DVD player and Sony PS2 through the component (RGB) input  and the result are astounding.  Picture quality of the progressive scanned DVD movies are very good. Games played through the PS2 via component connection are also a blast.  Whats even more astounding is the price that I paid for the monitor....Php12T !!!  Yes its a Japan surplus my friends...been with me for the past 7 months and its still A-OK.   Cant seem to see myself shelling out a hundred fifty grand for a brand new 16:9 monitor that isnt even HD and progressive scan ready.

People say that im nuts to buy a surplus TV because it may just conk out after a year or even months but given the price that I just shelled out I really think that its a good gamble on my part.  If this sucker lasts  a year then I can consider myself a winner in this deal.  In retrospect, My father in law bought a 55 inch Panasonic widescreen RPTV 6 years ago from JR of Listening in Style to the tune of Php225T.  Now the TV is non functional.  Parts are non existent and his Php225T investment went kaput.  Its been relegated to our bodega for the past year and a half.  Even if I buy a surplus TV yearly for the next 5 years im sure it wont amount to Php225T.  Hell, I can even buy one every six months for the next 5 years and still it wont reach Php225T... ;D  Different strokes for different folks...Happy viewing  :)
