Which rav4 are you talking about? rav4.2 or rav4.3? anyway if its 4.3 i think the fuel consumption is almost the same as the previa both of em have the same engine 2azfe and there's no m.t. variant being sold in the P.I.  Lets say average of 6-7 km per litre... rav4.2 1azfe a/t consumes 6.5 L/km on long hiways it goes around 9-10 km / L. While the m/t variant can go 7-8 km on city driving. I did mine at 9.2 km/L. Hiways naman 10-11 km/L. The nice thing about the new rav4 is that is has bumpers at the rear unlike its 2 earlier incarnations. Also its big and with lots of nooks and crannies to put in your stuff etc etc... PErsonally its a bit overpriced. I'd rather get a CRV or the New Suzuki Vitara if price is a factor. but if price is of no object... go get it.
We import OEM radiators, condensers, evaporators, aux fan, steering rack and pinion etc...

We used to have a 4 door automatic, it used to get around 6 km/l city and around 12-14 highway.

wow! thats a good highway mileage for a 2 liter auto tranny car.  is the gen 1 rav 4 much more fuel efficient than the gen 1 CRV?

Yes that's true. That was the mileage that I would get when I would go to the beach in Batangas. I don't know how it compares to VVTi engines since my family never owned the newer model. Maybe the newer RAV is heavier than the first model. We have since disposed of our RAV and we have a V6 Escape which is a gas guzzler but the power is ok.

what are the factors that would make you pick a 1999 Rav 4 (first gen) vs a 1999 CRV (first gen)?

mga sir na-experience nyo ba sa Rav4 nyo ung inconsistent reading ng fuel gauge? i'm quite sure when i turned off the engine the reading was still at half tank. the following day when i started the engine, the reading was almost near the 1/4 mark.
tanong ko lang if ganito talaga sakit ng rav4?
