Suzuki Jimny Spark Plug Replacement
« on: August 20, 2007, 04:32:25 PM »
Sorry to bother, guys.   But I need help.

I have a 2005 Suzuki Jimny M/T.  I wanted to change the spark plugs (NGK BKR6E-11), but my present spark plug socket (5/8") won't fit.  Would anybody know what size spark plug socket I should use?  I checked with the tools that came with the vehicle, and apparently a spark plug socket is not included.

Don't be sorry to ask. Its weird that the tool set doesn't come with a spark plug socket. Maybe your car uses special thread plugs and might not be compatible with NGK BKR6E-11. You might end up damaging the threads as well. Check you manual or go to your dealer to check on this.

Brent, I went to see Migs at Speedyfix.  His mechanic had no problems inserting his spark plug socket into the engine to extract the plugs.  I compared my socket to his, and it seemed that his socket is a wee bit smaller in diameter than mine.  I managed to buy a new spark plug socket that was of the same thread size, but smaller in diameter at Ace.  Still have to find out if it will fit.  But I think it will.  Will let you know eventually.
