To showcase that the future can have environmentally-focused commercial vehicles, Hyundai has demonstrated their vision for the future at their Truck and Bus Mega Fair in Korea. The three day event featured the full line-up of their current and upcoming commercial vehicles from Hyundai Motor.
Apart from their commercial vehicle line-up, the Mega Fair also showcased Hyundai Motor's commitment to develop alternative-fuel powertrain and intelligent safety features across their entire commercial vehicle line. This was done by revealing their vision for pioneering eco-friendly commercial vehicle technology via a new strategic roadmap.
“The Hyundai Truck and Bus Mega Fair presents an ideal opportunity to introduce Hyundai Motor's vision and competitiveness in the commercial vehicle arena. We're sure that a new era of commercial vehicle enterprise will begin with this showcase event,” said Mr. Jaiyoung Yoo, senior vice president, head of commercial vehicle division at Hyundai Motor Company.
Hyundai Motor's goal of sustainable grow and a clean future begins by them aiming to increase fuel efficiency by 30% by 2020 compared to 2015. To impart better safety, Hyundai Motor has equipped their large trucks and buses with new safety features which include autonomous emergency braking and smart cruise control. Both systems will be tested under controlled environments as early as next year.
Making its debut as well at the Mega Fair was Elec City – Hyundai Motor's first mass produced electric bus. Elec City highlights the possibilities of electric bus technology and gives a glimpse into the future of public transport. It is powered by a 256kwh lithium-ion polymer battery which the Korean automaker says has a range up to 290km on a single charge.
