DOTr: Two Solid North bus drivers tested positive in drug test

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has announced that 2 drivers from the bus company, Pangasinan Solid North Transit Inc., have tested positive for illegal drugs, which was conducted by the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

According to the LTO, the drivers who tested positive will undergo confirmatory tests and could face perpetual revocation of their licenses, along with other potential criminal charges.

Separately, the LTO also conducted inspections of the bus company’s fleet at its motor vehicle inspection center in Zambales. Out of the company’s 276 buses, 46 have so far been found to be compliant with roadworthiness standards. As of this writing, the LTO continues to inspect the remaining units.

The implementation of these safety protocols is a direct response to the fatal Labor Day accident on SCTEX involving a Pangasinan Solid North bus, an incident that claimed the lives of 10 people.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon stated that the government is dedicated to fulfilling President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s mandate to guarantee the safety and convenience of all commuters.
