In the ever-escalating battle between the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board Chairman (LTFRB) against the mayors of the Metro Manila Council and the MMDA, LTFRB Chairman Winston Ginez offered a suggestion to truck operators: "Sue them."
For not honoring the provisional authority given to green-plated trucks, the MMDA and the local government units (LGU), “that could be the recourse of the truck operators,” Ginez told philstar.com.
This development comes after the MMDA and the mayors of the cities in Metro Manila issued Board Resolution No. 3, Series of 2014 that allows them to enforce their respective traffic rules and regulations and supersede the recent memorandums issued by the LTFRB allowing trucks with green plates to conduct its without while its papers are still being processed.
Chairman Ginez defends LTFRB's Board Resolution No. 5 or the ‘No Apprehension Policy’ indicating that it did not in any way lift MMDA’s own truck ban and ‘is allowed under the law for operators seeking to be granted a franchise by the LTFRB.’ He adds that it should not be singled out as the reason for the massive traffic jams Metro Manila has been experiencing.
