Truckers and big rigs able to get around Metro Manila freely during MECQ will need to adjust their delivery schedules.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has just announced that starting today, May 17, the truck ban policy has been re-implemented in the metro. It comes after the government put NCR (with Plus) under the (slightly) more relaxed General Community Quarantine.

That means trucks are banned from traversing along major thoroughfares that are under the MMDA's jurisdiction. More importantly, trucks and other big rigs must follow the truck ban hours that span from 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM and from 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM, Monday to Saturday. The only trucks that are exempt from the said ban are those that carry perishable and agricultural products.

The government agency also wished to reiterate that trucks are banned 24/7 from entering the EDSA (Magallanes Interchange to North Avenue). But what about the number coding scheme? Not to worry as the MMDA said that it is still suspended until further notice.

With the truck ban making a return, truckers and logistic companies will need to check and reassess their delivery schedules. For those that need to recheck which roads they are not allowed to go to during truck ban hours, check out our complete guide about the Metro Manila Truck Ban.
