At the recently concluded Tokyo Motor Show, Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) launched their new product brand E-FUSO, dedicated to electric trucks and buses. Together with brand launch, the Japanese manufacturer also revealed the E-FUSO Vision One all-electric, heavy-duty concept truck with a range of up to 350 km.
Prior to the reveal of the E-FUSO Vision One, MFTBC also introduced the all-electric eCanter truck just a month before. The eCanter has a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 7.5 tons with a range of 100 to 120 km on a single charge. Recently, the first batch of eCanter trucks have already been handed over to customers both in Japan and in New York City, where it was first launched.
From the eCanter's production, MFTBC will use the technology developed and insights gathered in order to develop an electric heavy-duty truck within the next four to five years. Likely, this would be a production version of the E-FUSO Vision One given that both are heavy duty trucks.
More recently, the MFTBC has announced that they will be electrifying their complete range of trucks and buses the upcoming years. New drivetrains will be announced in the upcoming years, which will be needed for the electric trucks and buses. The announcement of a fully electrified range stems from the brand's commitment of having trucks and buses having a positive environmental and economic impact on society.
