Truck drivers and operators take note. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has just announced that they will resume the implementation of the truck ban starting next week, December 14.

According to MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia, the reimplementation of the truck ban will help decongest Metro Manila of traffic as the holiday season draws closer. With it, trucks will not be allowed to travel along national roads and major thoroughfares that are under the MMDA's jurisdiction from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM and from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

The truck ban will be in effect every Monday to Saturday, except Sundays and during holidays. However, trucks will not be allowed to travel on EDSA 24/7. That means trucks are prohibited from Magallanes Interchange in Makati City to North Avenue in Quezon City, from Monday to Sunday.

The MMDA initially suspended the truck ban last March for the delivery of essential goods to be unhampered amid the ECQ. As for the number coding scheme for private vehicles, the MMDA said that it remains suspended until further notice.
