Taking over as General Distributor for Fuso trucks beginning Q1 of 2019, Sojitz Fuso Philippines Corporation (SFC) will be handling the distribution of the light-to-heavy duty line of trucks here in the Philippines. SFC will be taking the reins from Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) and will assume operations starting this year as the market for commercial trucks continues to grow as new infrastructure gets laid out throughout the country.
“The Philippines is one of the fastest growing markets in this key region.” Said Mr. Thomas Hilse, CEO of Daimler Commercial Vehicles South East Asia Pte. Ltd. “We appreciate MMPC’s long-term support in this crucial market and are proud to tie up with SFP – a reliable local partner solely dedicated to our trucks and buses - to step up our game. This new strategic setup will allow us to ensure the utmost customer dedication with our products and services at all times.
The FUSO dealer network under MMPC will have a smooth transition over to SFP thanks to a mutual agreement between the two parties and by the parent company of Fuso, Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC). With two dealerships put up last year, SFP will usher in more dedicated FUSO dealerships throughout the course of 2019.
The signing took place on October 26th last year, with representatives from Sojitz Corporation (Mr. Hideo Hatada, General Manager of Automotive Dept. 3), Sojitz Fuso Philippines Corporation (Mr. Takatsugu Nitanai, President & CEO) and Daimler Commercial Vehicles Southeast Asia (Mr. Thomas Hilse, CEO).
FUSO trucks have been sold here in the Philippines as early as 1969 with a range of light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks in their lineup. Light buses have been sold as Completely Built Units (CBU) as well.
