At the 2018 Philippine International Motor Show, Columbian Manufacturing Corporation (CMANC), the exclusive manufacturer and official distributor of Daewoo in the Philippines, previews their latest line up of commercial vehicles (CVs) such as trucks, buses and even modern public utility vehicles (PUVs). These CVs are fitted with the brand’s ‘Clean & Green Technology’ which support the government’s Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP).
One of the highlights of their display is Daewoo’s modern PUV. Externally, it looks similar to the traditional jeepney body, which keep the popular PUV’s styling alive. In fact, they even call it the 'traditional jeepney'. That said, it does still follow the government’s national design standard with side entry doors, CCTV, Beep card, etc. It comes equipped with air-conditioning and even has an LED board at the front. According to CMANC, the flexible chassis allows it to use a host of different engines and powertrains including the traditional diesel engine, a hybrid system or even electric as they displayed in the show.
CMANC’s other model for public transport is the Daewoo BS210SN bus. The large people carrier is designed for both the Bus Rapid Transport and Airport Transport System all over the Philippines, and is based on ‘European bus technology’. It comes with a host of features inside, improving passenger comfort during journeys. It is powered by a Euro 5 diesel engine which delivers high power, low emissions and improved fuel efficiency.
To cater to businesses, also introduced the Maximus MCV Truck for the first time in the Philippines. The large wing-van body offers logistic solutions for businesses by having a larger carrying capacity and an easier use. It is powered by a Euro 5 diesel engine and comes with a Full Air Brake System. A full floating cab suspension then gives the driver best ride comfort regardless of condition.
For a more environment friendly model, CMANC also revealed its newest e-truck model – the 100% Pure Electric Truck. It uses a special battery purposely built for that model, allowing for a 250km driving range. The all-electric Daewoo truck is designed to fit ‘seamlessly into your fleet’ without having to change the way of doing business.
