It's full steam ahead for the PUV Modernization Act. More manufacturers are joining in the movement, and it continues to grow and garner support.

Last February 4, 2021, Hyundai Asia Resources, Incorporated (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai trucks and buses, proved that point in the province of Tarlac. With the help of their trucks and buses dealership in Cabanatuan, Hyundai turned over 30 units of the Hyundai HD50S Modern Jeepney Class 2 (With an additional 45 units slated for delivery sometime this year) to the Tarlac-Moncada-Gerona-Paniqui (Tamogepa) Transport Service Cooperative, Incorporated, a major transport organization in Central Luzon with a 36-year history.

Fe Perez-Agudo, Hyundai Trucks and Buses President through HARI CV Sales Head Mr. Monch Osorio.

Hyundai Trucks and Buses Cabanatuan President, Mr. Dennis San Juan, also expressed the brand's commitment to the initiative by providing full after-sales support and service to maintain the road-worthiness of the Modern Jeepneys. The Honorable Ahmed G. Cuizon, Director of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board reiterated the importance of continuing the efforts to modernize public transport in the country. He added that this elevates the dignity of the Filipino commuter, while also uplifting the livelihood of PUV drivers and numerous transport cooperatives.

The Hyundai HD50S Modern Jeepney Class 2 uses a 2.9-liter Euro 4-compliant CRDi diesel engine. The HD50S Modern Jeepney aims to provide better fuel efficiency, reliability, and cleaner emissions. It is designed for enhanced stability and power-to-weight ratio, boasting a 3,415-millimeter wheelbase. The modern Jeepney also features roof-mounted air conditioning, contactless payment using Auto Fare Collection System (AFCS), Wi-Fi, GPS tracking, CCTV cameras, a seven-inch monitor, and a speed limit warning buzzer. It can accommodate 22 seated passengers as well as up to 10 standing commuters.
