Foton Philippines is fully committed in supporting the PUV Modernization program. Recently, the automaker was present at the 2019 Land Transportation Office Motor Show. Held last May 21 – 24, the event coincides with the agency's 107th anniversary and showed what could be the future of the Philippine public utility vehicle.

On display during the motor show was Foton's lineup of vehicles that will bolster the PUV Modernization Program. Each one will serve as a means of providing comfortable and hassle-free ride for commuters.

“The launch of our commuter vehicles is a substantial effort to move the Philippines toward an efficient transportation network that is in line with the standards of our government, commuters, and environment. Our main mission is to improve basic infrastructure and provide public transportation services to drive economic and social development, to enhance the Filipino livelihoods and sustainability, and to increase the country’s ability to compete,” said Rommel Sytin, president of Foton Phlippines.

First up is the F-Jeep which is based off a Tornado 2.4C. It's body was designed by Centro Manufacturing Corporation and it can accommodate 24 passengers (16 seated, 8 standing). It comes with side-facing bench seats, GPS navigation, CCTV camera for added security, dashcam, Wi-Fi connectivity, and is air-conditioned. Power comes from a Euro-4, 2.8-liter Cummins turbo-diesel engine that is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. It produces 116 PS at 3200 rpm along with 260 Nm of torque at 1300 – 3200 rpm.

Need something a bit smaller? There's also the Gratour TM MPV. First revealed at this year's Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), the mini people carrier serves as Foton's smallest utility van. It can carry 14 passengers in total, and has a payload capacity of 1,455 kg. Should one need it as a miniature hauler, the side-facing benches can be folded up in order to transport long or wide loads. Sending power to the rear wheels is a 1.5-liter gasoline-fed inline-four that musters 110 PS with 142 Nm of torque, and is connected to a five-speed manual transmission.

If you need a bigger van still but not looking to get a bare bones people carrier, Foton also has the Transvan HR. It' a 16-seater van that comes with a high roof for added space and comfort. It even comes with dual air-conditioning, power windows and door locks, and an entertainment system. Providing power is 2.8-liter 4JB1 turbo-diesel that Foton claims delivers optimal performance for the van.
