MAN Automotive Concessionaires Corporation, the official distributor and assembler of MAN trucks and buses in the Philippines, is displaying three new and updated models in year's Philippines Truck and Bus exhibit. These include the TGS 33.360, CLA 26.300 and the production version of the Lion's City Low Entry Bus.
The CLA 26.300 is MAN's newest entry in the Cargo Line A series. Featuring German technology, the model displayed here is the CS117A Rigid Truck that boasts of a new, cleaner and more fuel-efficient engine. It is powered by a 6.9 liter, inline-six turbo diesel that puts out 300 PS and 1,150 Nm of torque. The new engine is also Euro IV compliant and shifts via a 9-speed synchronized range gearbox with crawler, reverse and overdrive. Applications for this truck includes dump truck, concrete pump, concrete mixer, vacuum pump, fuel and water tanker, cargo and construction.
This year, MAN has also unveiled the production version of the Lion's City LE Bus. Previewed last year as a prototype in Bonifacio Global City, the road-going bus gets a new engine. Also powered by a 6.9 liter turbodiesel inline-six, it gets a 10 horsepower gain from last year's prototype and power is now rated at 290 PS along with 1,100 Nm of torque. The new engine also helps the Lion's City LE Bus to be Euro 5 compliant, making it one of the cleanest running buses available in the Philippines.
Another highlight is the bus' emphasis on PWD passengers. For ease of entry, it comes with a kneeling function for a lower step-in height as well passenger space for wheelchair-bound occupants. Keeping passengers cool is a Spheros airconditioning unit which is already seeing service in Singapore buses. Depending on the configuration, the LE City Bus can seat up to 39 passengers plus a standee area of up to 56 passengers.
Last but not the least is the TGS 33.360, now with a more environment-friendly engine. Now Euro IV compliant, it features AdBlue to keep emissions low. With its 10.5 liter six-cylinder turbodiesel, power for the TGS 33.360 is rated at 360 PS and 1,800 Nm of torque and shifts via MAN's 12-speed Tipmatic transmission. In this configuration, hauling capacity is rated at 70 tons and can be used for construction applications, as well as hauling applications.
MAN also focused on driver comfort for all of its models by providing adjustable steering racks, pneumatic seats and air suspension for TGS trucks. MAN has also made several safety systems standard in their trucks and buses. All models have ABS standard with MAN BrakeMatic and are also available with Anti-Spin Regulator. In the LE City Bus, a Tamper Proof speed limiter is fitted standard.
