Barely a month into the program jointly launched by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), the Express Connect Bus service is getting a minor revision that will surely add extra minutes to the promised 'express' commute.
The pickup/drop-off points along EDSA and Ayala Avenue all the way to Roxas Boulevard will remain the same for the 20 E1 buses and the 10 E2 buses but along Commonwealth Avenue both will get their own set of designated loading and unloading areas.
For the E1 Southbound route (from Fairview going to Roxas Blvd.), Express Connect buses along Commonwealth Avenue will be stopping at Litex, Don Antonio, Tandang Sora, Central, Technohub, Philcoa for 20 seconds at a time to pickup/drop-off passengers.
The E2 Northbound route on the other hand (from Roxas Blvd. to Fairview) will stop at Montessori, Batasan and Litex for 20 seconds at a time to pickup/drop-off passengers.
This may be partly in response to the complaint of drivers and conductors about their reduced income in the employ of the Express Connect Bus service. They have revealed that now it requires four trips for them to earn what they used to make in only two trips because of the lack of passengers.
They attribute this to the lack of information dissemination as they noticed passengers still taking their usual bus ride instead of the ‘E’ labeled buses. They are optimistic however that in time people will notice the marked difference in travel time and opt for the Express Connect buses.
