Kia's seven-seater MPV receives minor updates for 2017

Kia's compact MPV gets a mild update for 2017 after the automaker rolled out the revamped Carens. The MPV receives a modest array of exterior and interior upgrades, including new infotainment features and a new exterior color.
The exterior of the refreshed Kia Carens features minor styling revisions. Its front fascia is now fitted with a new bumper, fog lights, and tiger nose grille creating a sculptural figure. Meanwhile, the rear is equipped with a new bumper as well as rear lamp units that uses the new lighting signature of the brand.
Also, the minivan is now available in a new hue called Mysterious Blue along with three new alloy wheel designs that can are available in 16-, 17- and 18-inches.
Inside, the seven-seater minivan, can be fitted with either a knit cloth or diamond pattern leather upholstery. Available hues are black and beige. It is also accented with choice trim pieces that can be finished in metallic, gloss black, or carbon inserts depending on the variant.
Other amenities include the brand's latest infotainment system that can be channeled through a 7.0- or 8.0-inch touchscreen. Both systems will come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Top-of-the-range models will include Kia Connected Services, rear-view camera and satellite navigation. An optional JBL audio system is also available and will come with a subwoofer, six speakers and an amplifier.
In Europe, the Carens can be powered by either a 1.6-liter gasoline inline-four or a 1.7-liter turbo-diesel. The former generates 138 PS and benefits from direct injection. The latter, on the other hand, is available in two output ratings; 117 PS and 138 PS. The low-power diesel along with the Eco Pack, includes low rolling-resistance Michelin tires as well as a stop-start system.
Sales of the refreshed Carens will begin in Europe by the end of the year.
