An all-new luxury sedan is set to make its world debut soon. After nearly five years in the market, the sixth-generation Lexus ES will be succeeded by the seventh-generation model. Set to make its world premiere at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show, Lexus claimed it will 'radically transform the driving experience for luxury consumers all over the world'.

Based on the lone teaser photo provided, the next-gen ES will come with an even bigger spindle front grill than its predecessor. Unlike the outgoing model which comes with horizontal slats, the redesigned front grill gets curved slats that point towards the center badge. Also, it looks like the ES received thicker chrome accents for a more luxurious look.

What we're sure of is that it's also based on the Toyota Avalon which debuted in Detroit early this year, which also gets a massive front grill and rather chiseled body.

Other details regarding the next-generation ES remain scarce. However, we expect the all-new ES to come with Toyota's New Global Architecture (TNGA). Currently it is seeing use on a myriad new Lexus models like the new-generation LS and the LC coupe.

With downsized turbocharged engines becoming the norm, it is highly likely that the ES will be available with such an engine. A naturally-aspirated V6 could still be available, but it may be superceeded by a smaller inline-four that benefits from forced induction. A hybrid variant is also a possibililty as the previous generation had one.
