Starting with its exterior, the new 5 comes with adaptive LED headlights that feature a high-beam assist function for improved nighttime visibility. The headlights get a cornering function that will help drivers see better at night while taking corners. The signature twin-kidney grille has also been redesigned with extra width and height and drops down further into the front apron.

Around the back, the updated taillights get a new black trim as well as L-shaped graphics which BMW says give the sedan a more striking design. Other exterior features available on the 2022 5 Series are the multi-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels, expanded exterior mirror package, chrome line exterior package with Luxury Line, automatic trunk lid operation (AKA the kick function), and soft-closing doors.

The instrument cluster has been given a makeover. It now gets a similar digital cluster as the 7 Series with a counter-clockwise tachometer. Dakota leather covers the seats of the updated 5 Series and is complemented by fine-wood trim and pearl chrome finishes. An LED Ambient Lighting Package along with a four-zone automatic climate control provides extra comfort for the passengers.

As always, infotainment comes in the form of iDrive that now runs on the latest Operating System 7.0. Not only does it come with the intuitive Gesture Control, but the system is also equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard. Audiophiles will also be happy to know that this particular 5 Series is also fitted with a 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system.

Other amenities available in the 2022 5 Series are power-adjustable front seats, electric sun-blinds for the back window, manual roller sun-blinds for the rear side windows, velour floor mats, smoker's package, and a sport leather steering wheel.

Under the hood, the 2022 5 Series is powered by a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline-four. It makes 184 PS at 5000-6500 rpm along with 290 Nm of torque at 1350-4250 rpm. Power is then sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. 0 – 100 km/h comes in at a brisk 7.9 seconds while top speed is limited to 235 km/h.

The 2022 BMW 5 Series 520i Luxury has a suggested retail price of PHP 4,290,000 and is now available at all authorized BMW dealerships. For extra peace of mind, BMW says the 5 Series is covered by a 5-year / 200,000 km warranty.
