All-new Toyota Avanza revealed with new look and FWD layout

After a myriad of teasers and leaked info, Toyota Motor Philippines has officially revealed the 2022 Avanza.

Now on its third generation, the MPV not only gets a more stylish look inside and out but it now sits on the new Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA). The result is a larger and more spacious vehicle, as well as a shift from rear-wheel drive to front-wheel drive.

Starting with the exterior, the 2022 Avanza features a more upscale design than its predecessors. It gets a bold front grille, aggressive LED headlights (on all variants), distinct foglight bezels, muscular wheel arches, and a new tailgate with redesigned LED taillights. Depending on the model chosen, the Avanza will come with either 15- or 16-inch wheels.

Size-wise, the Avanza measures 4395mm long, 1730mm wide, and 1700mm tall. Side-by-side with the previous generation, the MPV is longer by 205mm, wider by 70mm, and is 5mm taller. The wheelbase, on the other hand, has been stretched from 2655mm to 2750mm, which translates to a more spacious interior.

Moving to the interior, the MPV gets a more modern-looking design. The dashboard is all-new and features sleek aircon vents, a restyled instrument cluster with dual gauges, a three-spoke steering wheel, and an updated center stack complete with a new digital air-conditioning system.

Depending on the variant, the Avanza will be available with either an 8-inch or 6.75-inch touchscreen media display. Features such as AM/FM radio, Bluetooth, USB, Aux, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay are available in the MPV.

Other available features on the all-new Avanza include tilt & telescopic steering column (G and E variants), digital air-conditioning, engine start/stop button, rear USB charging ports, two-tone black-brown fabric upholstery, and a 4.2-inch multi-info display.

Want to treat the Avanza as a lounge? Both the second and third-row seats feature the new long-sofa mode. From its namesake, this will allow passengers to configure the MPV with a lounge-like seating arrangement. This is perfect for when you're enjoying the great outdoors with the 2022 Avanza.
