We've already seen the all-new Maserati GranTurismo make its Asia-Pacific debut in Japan last year and we can expect it to make its arrival in ASEAN soon at this year's Bangkok International Motor Show. That means we might just be several months away from the next-generation GranTurismo making its way here to the Philippines.

However, there is one more Maserati that we want to arrive in the country in the future. That vehicle is the 2024 Maserati GranCabrio, and it's just been revealed in Europe. Serving as the brand's latest open-top vehicle, the next-generation GranCabrio is essentially the convertible twin of the GranTurismo albeit sexier and more flashy.

Starting with the most obvious first, the GranCabrio gets a folding fabric roof that can be deployed in as little as 14 seconds. Even better is the fact that Maserati says that the retractable roof can be activated at speeds of up to 50 km/h. And while it may be made from fabric, the folding roof delivers remarkable thermal and acoustic comfort. Last but not least, it can come in five different colors; Black, Blue Marine, Titan Gray, Greige, and Garnet.

Design-wise, the GranCabrio looks relatively the same as the GranTurismo although it gets a redesigned rear. Since the rear houses the folding roof mechanism, Maserati had to slightly alter its rear quarters, as well as make it stand out from the regular coupe version.

Hop inside and the GranCabrio also shares much of its cabin with the Maserati GranTurismo. That means a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the center dashboard, an 8.8-inch touchscreen for climate control, and a 12.2-inch digital instrument panel. Maserati even installed a 13-speaker Sonus Faber sound system as standard although an optional 16-speaker with a 1,060-watt setup is also available.

With the top down, Maserati wants to ensure the 2+2 convertible will still deliver a comfy ride for its occupants. They installed neck warmers for the driver & front passenger which can be set to three levels of intensity. There's also an optional wind stopper that can minimize wind turbulence but at the cost of making the 2+2 into a strict two-seater.

The 2024 Maserati GranCabrio is being initially offered in the Trofeo trim. That means it's powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo Nettuno V6 that delivers 550 PS along with a generous 650 Nm of torque. It is then mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox that drives the rear wheels. It can go from 0 – 100 km/h in a brisk 3.6 seconds and can reach a top speed of 316 km/h. Due to the extra 100 kg on the GranCabrio, it's slightly 0.4 seconds slower to reach 100 km/h from a standstill when compared to the coupe and its top speed is lower by 4 km/h.

There's no word yet if Maserati will offer a Modena version of the GranCabrio which gets a detuned version of the twin-turbo V6. However, we won't be surprised if it will eventually be offered along with the all-electric Folgore variant that consists of three electric motors that deliver a combined system output of 761 PS and a whopping 1,350 Nm of pull.
