2025 BYD Tang DM-i PHEV can reach 1,150 km range
BYD launches Tang 7-seat SUV with DM-I 5.0 system

The BYD Tang serves as the brand’s flagship SUV in the Philippine market. It’s been around for quite a while as a 7-seat EV and is one of the early models that feature the BYD blade battery technology.
Lately, though, the buzz has been about the Sealion 6 and how its range-extender EV system is proving to be a better fit for local audiences. But for the 2025 model year in the Chinese market, the Tang SUV gets another round of updates that could make it a more attractive model for a 7-seater-loving country like ours.

The Tang now packs the latest and more powerful version of the BYD DM-I system that the Sealion 6 became known for. The system combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with an electric motor powered by a 21.5 kWh BYD blade battery, putting out 272 PS.

Running a series-parallel hybrid setup where either the electric motor or the engine can power the car, the BYD Tang DM-I has an all-electric range of up to 115 km and a combined range of up to 1,150 km.
On the outside, there’s very little difference between the Tang DM-I and the Tang EV that’s currently being offered in the Philippine market. The former gets black trims instead of chrome, while the taillight has been revised to feature traditional Chinese knot elements as its light signature.

Inside, there are six and seven-seat variants for the Tang DM-I, and features a 12.3-inch instrument panel with a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen.
Much like the Tang EV, the DM-I version still features an active suspension which gives the SUV exceptional comfort and body control.

The top-spec BYD Tang DM-I sells for USD 29,150 (under PHP 1.7M) in its home market. Should BYD Philippines offer the model and keep it under PHP 2 million, then we might see yet another hot seller from ACMobility.
