The Honda Accord has not been available in the Philippines since 2022, but it's nice to see that the midsize sedan is still doing well in other markets. In fact, Honda even held a special 50th anniversary celebration of the Accord earlier this year with global events, merchandise, and exhibits. Not bad for a car that made its debut way back in 1976.

Despite automakers and customers shifting their attention to crossovers, SUVs, and MPVs/minivans, midsize sedans like the Accord remain popular with car buyers. In Japan, Honda actually released an updated version of the midsize sedan for the 2027 model year.

While it's not exactly a facelift, Honda gave the 11th-generation Accord some subtle exterior changes. For starters, it now comes with clear side markers and body-colored garnishes for the headlights. The result is a more discerning front fascia without making any drastic changes.

But perhaps serving as the most important upgrade in the 2027 Accord is the Sensing 360+. This can be seen with the new body-colored front grille and a shark fin antenna on the roof that's also body-colored. More importantly, the 2027 Accord now comes with adaptive cruise control (ACC) with traffic jam assist (TJA) and lane-keeping assist (LKAS), which allows for semi-autonomous driving on mapped highways and expressways.

Under the hood, the Accord is powered by the brand's e:HEV hybrid system. It gets a 2.0L four-cylinder engine that's assisted by a dual-traction electric motor, resulting in a combined system output of 207 PS and 335 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to the front wheels via an e-CVT and delivers almost instantaneous acceleration.

While we can't expect the 2027 Accord to make a Philippine comeback, it's nice to see that Honda is still giving the midsize sedan plenty of upgrades and updates for other markets.
