Believe it or not, it's already been more than half a decade since we've had the Suzuki XL7. Essentially the more rugged version of the second-generation Ertiga MPV, the XL7 gets an SUV-inspired look and feel, while keeping the MPV practicality.

All well and good, but since the XL7 was first launched way back in 2020, it's due for a full model change. Yes, we did get a mild-hybrid version in 2024 along with a slight facelift, but an all-new model is needed. However, it looks like Suzuki is not yet ready to launch the next-generation XL7/Ertiga.

Instead, the automaker arrived at this year's Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) with the refreshed XL7. Revealed as a 2027 model year vehicle, the updated Suzuki XL7 gets a more dynamic front fascia, a longer list of features, and a comfier cabin.

Starting with the most obvious first, the 2027 Suzuki XL7 now features a bolder grille design and redesigned LED headlights with black accents. It also gets new LED foglights, more stylish 16-inch two-tone alloy wheels, and additional black accents on the LED taillights.

Inside, the refreshed XL7 gets new Metallic Hagane Dark Silver accents on the instrument panel ornament, as well as on the steering wheel, center console, and door panels. The result is a sleeker and more sophisticated-looking cabin despite still having the same design that's already several years old. Also new is a 9-inch touchscreen media display that supports Apple CarPlay & Android Auto and an Arkamys sound system.

Despite its age, Suzuki gave the XL7 additional safety features & amenities like a tire pressure monitoring system, a 360-degree camera with a bird's-eye view, and a digital video recorder (DVR) as standard. All of these translate to better peace of mind while on the road.

Under the hood, the 1.5L K15B four-cylinder engine has been carried over and continues to make 103 PS and 138 Nm of torque. It's available with the brand's SHVS mild-hybrid system, which helps to improve fuel efficiency in city & highway driving. Power is then sent to the front wheels via a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual gearbox.

With the 2027 Suzuki XL7 now available in Indonesia, it might only be a matter of time before the updated XL7 makes its way to the Philippine market. After all, Suzuki Philippines gets the XL7 (and Ertiga) from Indonesia.
