All-new 2025 Ford Ranger PHEV has more torque than V6 diesel
The electrified Ranger can travel up to 45 km without a drop of fuel and has nearly 700 Nm of pull

Exactly one year ago, Ford unveiled the electrified Ranger plug-in hybrid (PHEV). While the Blue Oval didn't release the output figures, Ford did mention that the Ranger PHEV is capable of having a braked towing capacity of 3,500 kg. Moreover, the automaker claims the pickup truck can travel up to 45 km without using a drop of fuel.
But how was Ford able to make the Range PHEV possible? Well, after revealing it a year ago, the Blue Oval has released new details about the plug-in hybrid pickup truck including its total system output. As mentioned before, Ranger PHEV gets its power from a 2.3L turbocharged EcoBoost engine that's assisted by an electric motor and an 11.8 kWh battery pack.

As a result, the Ranger PHEV makes a total system output of 279 PS along with a stump-pulling 690 Nm of torque. Compared to the already powerful 3.0L PowerStroke diesel V6, the Ranger PHEV trounces the diesel-driven V6 by 29 PS along with 90 Nm of additional pull. The powertrain is then connected to a 10-speed automatic gearbox along with an e-4WD system that features a dual-range transfer box and rear differential lock.

Since it's a PHEV, this particular Ranger benefits from an uprated Pro Power Onboard system. It essentially serves as the vehicle's V2L system that can power tools, electronic devices, and camping trailers which is perfect when you're in the outdoors. It can be used with either a standard 2.3 kW system or a more powerful (and optional) 6.9 kW power supply. Speaking of power, recharging the 11.8 kWh battery pack to full can be done in less than 4 hours according to Ford.
There's no word yet on whether Ford Philippines plans to bring the electrified Ranger to the country. However, since hybrids and PHEVs now benefit from zero tariffs, Ford is weighing its options on whether to launch the Ranger PHEV here.
