Changan Motor Philippines Inc to officially begin sales on November 26, 2020
One of China's Big 4 auto brands just made a comeback in the Philippines. Thanks to the people behind Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI), the newly-formed Changan Motor Philippines Inc. (CMPI) made a strong return to the country with the introduction of five new models.
“Many have asked why we are launching a new brand in this challenging environment. The answer is simple--as an industry veteran of 20 years, I strongly believe Changan is a promising brand, a challenger brand with vehicles and services that will excite the Philippine market at this most unexpected time,” said Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo, president and CEO of CMPI.
The model range starts with the Alsvin B-segment sedan. It will be available in three variants and can come with a 1.4-liter, four-cylinder engine that puts out 100 PS and 130 Nm of torque, or a more powerful 1.5-liter motor that produces 107 PS and 145 Nm of torque. Key features that will be available on the Alsvin include a sunroof, cruise control, blind-spot monitor, rearview camera, tire pressure monitoring, and leather seats.
Next up is the CS35 Plus which serves as the brand's entry-level compact SUV. Power comes from a 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-four that doles out 158 PS and 230 Nm of torque. It is then mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The CS35 is available with the following features: panoramic sunroof, remote engine start, 10-inch touchscreen display, and passive keyless entry.
If you need something with more oomph, the CS75 Plus and its more powerful 1.5-liter turbo engine can surely suffice. It makes 178 PS along with 265 Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Features such as a push-start ignition, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, cruise control, three driving modes, and six airbags are fitted on the CS75 Plus.
Those looking for seven seats need not look further than the CS95. It has a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder under the hood which generates a healthy 232 PS and 360 Nm of torque. Amenities and features like a 10-inch instrument display, 12.3-inch touchscreen, 360-degree panoramic camera, and panoramic sunroof are available on the CS95.
Last but not least is the Eado EV460. Named as the best 'Green Car' in China, the EV460 is a fully-electric passenger car that comes with six airbags, leather seats, and electronic stability control.
All Changan models will be covered by a 5-year/150,000 kilometer warranty, along with free Preventive Maintenance Service (PMS) for the first year, or up to 20,000 kilometers.
“In these challenging times, we need to get on with our lives and move forward. And that requires safe, technology-driven mobility options to bring us to a better normal, a better future. We hope that the introduction of Changan in the Philippines will serve as a shot in the arm for the ailing auto industry. This launch underscores our strong confidence in the brand, the auto industry, and the Philippine economy. Let us drive towards this change together,” added Agudo.
