Engelberg Tourer is Mitsubishi's new concept of an electric SUV

Engelberg Tourer is Mitsubishi's new concept of an electric SUV
New SUV concept from MMC to debut at Geneva show
Pajero, Montero Sport, Outlander, Eclipse Cross and... Engelberg?
Yes, there's something odd going on with Mitsubishi Motors Corporation's naming structure, but we're not complaining, and that's just based on this first teaser image of what could be the brand's new SUV in the future.
They call it the Engelberg Tourer, and Mitsubishi will be fully revealing the concept at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland. That's apt: Engelberg is the name of a town in the Swiss Alps.
And what's more, it's an all-electric SUV.
Mitsubishi may only have released one official image but we can clearly see that as with all of MMC's recent crossover, SUV and truck models, the Engelberg Tourer has a face that's derived from the Dyanmic Shield design as highlighted by the blue LED strips.
Like the Xpander and new Strada/Triton, the Engelberg Tourer has slim headlights and huge foglamps, though we suspect the lighting units where the headlamps would be are actually DRLs while the ones where the fogs are could be the actual headlights. To further allude to the rugged intentions of the Engelberg Tourer, there are roof mounted lights as commonly seen on modified off-road trucks and rally raid vehicles.
Mitsubishi didn't show much else, but they did say the Engelberg Tourer SUV will show off a new style, bring more technology, and will be an electric vehicle. Mitsubishi has extensive experience in EV technology with the iMIEV hatchback as well as plug-in hybrids such as the Outlander PHEV. That, we suspect, is why they used blue LEDs to highlight the front grill as many carmakers tend to use blue accents for EVs and hybrids like Toyota and Nissan.
We'll have to wait a little longer for the Geneva Motor Show in March for more details on this new concept, and see if this Engelberg Tourer could become a future production EV SUV model from Mitsubishi.
