The infamous tuning house from Houston, Texas has just unveiled what could be their fastest car to date. Called the Venom F5, Hennessey is taking aim against the likes of Bugatti and Koenigsegg for the world's fastest hypercar.

“We’ve designed F5 to be timeless so that in 25 years it will still have a level of performance and design that will be unmatched. The F5 is an all new car, designed and built from the ground up, from the engine to the chassis. We expect the Venom F5, named for the most powerful tornado speed winds on the Fujita scale, to be the first road car capable of achieving more than 300 mph and have worked closely with Pennzoil to get us across the finish line,” said John Hennessey, founder and CEO of the company.

Combining a lightweight architecture, an aerodynamic design and a powerful drivetrain, the Venom F5 has the makings of an automobile built specfically for speed. Both the body and chassis are made from lightweight carbon fiber which gives the Venom F5 a curb weight of only 1,338 kg. In addition, it also has a drag coefficient of 0.33 cD.

Over to its design, the Venom F5 features a striking exterior that is dominated by flared wheel arches, sharp lines and smooth curves. The front end comes with eye-catching P-shaped headlights along with side air intakes and a chin spoiler. Meanwhile, large multi-spoke alloy wheels painted in black fill up the wheel wells and are wrapped in sticky Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tires. Finally, the rear is dominated by a large wing, hexgaon-shaped taillights and a center-mounted triple exhaust.

The driving force of the Venom F5 is a bespoke 7.4-liter bi-turbo V8 engine that churns out a whopping 1,622 PS along with 1,762 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to a seven-speed single clutch paddle-shift gearbox. A manual transmission is available as an option but Hennessey did mention that drivers may fight with the car as it has a GPS-based traction control system.

With these output figures, the Venom F5 is capable of sprinting from 0 – 300 km/h in less than 10 seconds which makes it quicker off the line than Formula 1 cars according to Hennessey. Also, the Venom F5 can run from 0 – 400 km/h and back all in under 30 seconds. It has a projected top speed of more than 480 km/h.

Only 24 examples of the Hennessey Venom F5 will be made and each will be priced at a cool $ 1.6 million.
