Honda Heritage Works: Preserving Honda Classics
Honda launches Honda Heritage Works with car restoration programs

Restoring a car is one thing; returning it to its correct factory condition and original appearance is another entirely. In that case, there is no one better suited to the task than the manufacturer that built it in the first place. Case in point here is the newly launched Honda Heritage Works in Japan that will specialize in restoring Honda cars, starting with the NSX, which enjoys a strong following among car collectors and enthusiasts.
Honda Heritage Works
Coinciding with the launch of Honda Heritage Parts, the workshop in Takanezawa, Tochigi Prefecture, which is the birthplace of the first-generation NSX, will be renamed from Refresh Center to Honda Heritage Works Takanezawa. Through this facility, the automaker will offer Honda Restoration Service, a full-scale manufacturer-led restoration program that will utilize newly reproduced parts. Launching exclusively in Japan, this program will begin with the first-generation NSX, NSX (1990.9-1993.2) Coupe (MT/AT). Although they are already planning to gradually expand to other classic sport-type models in the future.

Total Restoration
This comprehensive restoration service involves complete disassembly and detailed inspection of the vehicle, followed by the overhaul of the engine, suspension, and other components critical to driving performance. The restoration program also includes the exterior and interior, using available new parts wherever possible to return the vehicle’s appearance and performance as close as possible to its original, new-car condition.

Basic Restoration
The program also offers an entry-level restoration service that focuses on components related to driving performance, including the engine and suspension. These parts are disassembled, inspected, and overhauled to restore the vehicle as closely as possible to its original performance when new. Exterior and interior restoration services are available as optional additions.

From Start to Finish
The restoration programs start with an application process, which can be done at Honda Cars dealerships, where an expert staff will explain the service details, discuss any additional maintenance requirements, and prepare a detailed quotation. Once the contract is finalized, the vehicle will be transported to Honda Heritage Works Takanezawa in Tochigi Prefecture for restoration. The restoration period varies depending on the selected service menu and the vehicle’s condition, but it will approximately take four to nine months.
