BMW M boss teases camouflaged M4 CSL with interesting bits

BMW is rolling out one M car after another for its 50th-anniversary celebration this year. And apparently, the best is yet to come from the German manufacturer.

After coming out with their first CSL model in almost 20 years plus the first-ever M3 Touring, BMW announced another new M car is coming, and this could be the model we're looking for.

BMW M boss Franciscus van Meel showed off the camouflaged M4 CSL on his Instagram wearing interesting bits on its body and its livery which has all the makings of a modern-day BMW 3.0 CSL “Batmobile”.

For starters, the coupe's front fascia sports styling cues reminiscent of the original 3.0 CSL from the 70s and the Hommage R concept from a few years ago. There's a different-looking front bumper that has large circular intake openings, while the rear of the car was fitted with a large wing and a roof spoiler.

Now let's talk about the hints from the car's livery. In the M4 CSL's hood lies the words “I like it rare”, which means the new 3.0 CSL could be a limited-edition model; reports indicate BMW M is only producing 50 examples of the car. Also, there's an “I donut care” sticker that gives hints of the car's rear-wheel-drive only configuration.

Round the back, the “6MT FTW” could mean the M4 CSL's 8-speed automatic will be traded for a 6-speed manual gearbox, while the “Insanely epic” sticker could point out to its performance, as the car will allegedly have 600 horsepower instead of 550 in its 3.0-liter inline-six engine.

Since it's a special tribute model, don't expect the modern-day 3.0 CSL to be cheap. According to rumors, BMW M is set to give a sticker price of EUR 600,000 (PHP 34.7 million).

While the camouflaged M4 CSL has plenty more to reveal in the future, we should expect BMW to pull out all the stops in making this 50th-anniversary model the best BMW M car yet.
