Mazda to offer EZ-6 EV sedan in the global market
Mazda EZ-6 is a JV product of Changan and Mazda in China

Mazda has mild hybrids, full hybrids, and a range extender EV its global lineup. But soon, the Japanese carmaker is set to expand its lineup of electrified vehicles by offering a battery electric vehicle.
After being assumed initially as a Chinese market exclusive model, Mazda has confirmed the EZ-6 will be offered in the global market. The EZ-6 is a product of the joint venture between Mazda and Changan that made its debut back in April’s Auto China in Beijing.

Unlike most of Mazda’s models that come from the Hiroshima plant in Japan, the EZ-6 is built in the Changan Mazda factory in China. Along with the announcement, Mazda and Changan Mazda have signed an Agreement on Electric Vehicle Export Cooperation, which designates Changan Mazda as the exclusive Chinese new energy R&D and production base for the global market.

Sharing its underpinnings with the Changan Deepal SL03, the EZ-6 has been confirmed to have both PHEV and BEV variants though detailed specifications are yet to be announced. The BEV model has an expected driving range of approximately 600 km, while the PHEV model is expected to achieve over 1,000km of driving range on a single tank of fuel. Furthermore, a range extended EV version could also be offered by Mazda.
Changan’s expertise in intelligent driving systems will also trickle down to the EZ-6 as it will be equipped with Level 2.5 autonomous driving assistance – that includes features like autonomous parking, remote parking, remote intelligent parking, and trace-back parking.

Despite the shared platform, the Japanese carmaker claims the EZ-6 will still feature the signature Mazda driving dynamics as experts from their European R&D Center flew in to Chongqing to fine tune its handling characteristics.
The Mazda EZ-6 will officially go on sale in China at the start of the -BER months, while European markets are next to get the electrified sedan.
