Mercedes-Benz GLA gets exterior, interior updates for 2023
Check out the subtle changes of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLA

It was in September 2020 when Mercedes-Benz Philippines first launched the all-new GLA. Billed as a 2021 model, the brand's smallest crossover gets softer curves, a more modern and high-tech cabin, and a more powerful turbocharged engine.
Fast forward three years later, and the second-generation GLA is ripe for an update. Luckily, Mercedes-Benz actually just revealed its latest version overseas. This is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLA, and the automaker decided to keep things subtle for its first facelift.

While not immediately noticeable, the GLA gets a redesigned front bumper, modernized light signatures for the LED headlights/taillights, and four new additional wheel designs. The standard version rolls on 17-inch twin-spoke alloy wheels painted gloss black. However, Mercedes-Benz is also offering bigger 18 to 20-inch wheel sizes, too.
Hop inside and the 2023 GLA gets a significantly upgraded interior. Just like the updated GLB, the GLA now comes with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster alongside a 10.25-inch MBUX touchscreen infotainment system. Those who prefer the instrument panel with the same screen size as the MBUX system can get it as an option, however.

When it comes to the upholstery selection, Mercedes-Benz added four new colors for the AMG Line version; Black, Bahia Brown, Sage Gray, and Red Pepper. Other interior features available in the 2023 GLA include; a 360-degree camera, intelligent voice control that can be activated by saying “Hey Mercedes”, Artico man-made leather/microfiber seats, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and USB-C charging ports.
Just like the GLB revealed earlier, the 2023 GLA is now paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. It consists of a belt-starter generator that provides an additional 10 kW of power for faster acceleration. The system also helps save on fuel via an auto start/stop function.

Locally, the GLA is available with just one engine; a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 163 PS at 5500 rpm along with 250 Nm of torque from 1520 to 4000 rpm. Power goes to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. In addition, the crossover is offered in GLA 200 Progressive and GLA 200 AMG Line variants.
With the GLA now on sale in international markets, we can expect the refreshed crossover to arrive in the Philippines either sometime this year or the next. Here's to hoping we get the mild-hybrid system available across the range.
