Chery PH gives the Tiggo 5X the Pro (and mild-hybrid) treatment
Chery Auto Philippines continues to expand its offering of electrified vehicles. Alongside the Tiggo 7 Pro MHEV, the automaker has also previewed the Tiggo 5X Pro MHEV. It will serve as the brand's entry-level electrified vehicle and has also received a facelift and a turbocharged assisted engine.
Just like the Tiggo 7 Pro MHEV, the updated Tiggo 5X Pro gets a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four that's helped along by a 48V belt-starter generator which is part of the vehicle's mild-hybrid system. Official output figures are not yet available but it will likely come with a similar 155 PS and 230 Nm of torque. A 9-speed CVT then sends power to the front wheels.
As the vehicle is now electrified, the Tiggo 5X Pro MHEV gets fuel-save tech like regenerative braking that gathers energy while braking or coasting, auto start/stop, and torque assist for faster acceleration while under load.
Style-wise, the electrified crossover gets a sleeker look thanks to some minor changes. First is the new “Sunshine Galaxy” grille that appears to have been derived from its bigger brother, the Tiggo 7 Pro. It also gets updated foglights with restyled bezels and a flashier set of alloy wheels.
Moving to the interior, the dashboard of the electrified Tiggo 5X Pro pretty much remains the same as before. These include a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a touch-sensitive auto climate control panel, a wireless charging pad, and a push-button start.
Additional details about the 2023 Tiggo 5X Pro MHEV will be revealed soon closer to its launch, just like the Tiggo 7 Pro MHEV. Check out both vehicles until April 16, 2023 at the Manila International Auto Show.
