Mitsubishi PH prepping to launch rebadged NV350 Urvan?

We’re halfway through 2025, and we’re starting to see automotive brands making their strategic moves for the year.
A few months ago, Nissan confirmed its van partnership with Mitsubishi for the Philippine market. The deal is that Nissan will supply the vehicle, but it will be wearing a Mitsubishi badge. This aligns with what our insider previously told us, that the new model will be a badge-engineered derivative of the Nissan NV350 Urvan.
Fast forward to the present, and it looks like preparations are now underway for Mitsubishi to introduce the model in the country. Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has received approval for a passenger vehicle with an engine displacement of 2488cc.
When we looked at the numbers, the engine capacity did not match any of the current Mitsubishi turbodiesel engines on the market. But it turns out, the engine displacement matches a Nissan turbodiesel. Specifically, the YD25DDTi that powers models like the Navara, Terra, and, you guessed it, the NV350 Urvan.
While there are versions of the NV350 that are already powered by Mitsubishi’s 4N16 turbodiesel in other markets, it looks like it won’t be the case for the Philippine market. This rather makes the badge engineering simpler, just like how Nissan and Mitsubishi did it with the Xpander and Livina.
The only question now is, what will be the name of the upcoming NV350-derived Mitsubishi van for the Philippines? Will it be the L350? Or will we see a revival of the Space Gear name?
