MMDA to close U-turn slot near Balintawak Market on Nov 23
U-turn slots near Oliveros Drive, Balintawak Market to be closed next week
Motorists that frequently take the U-turn slots near Oliveros Drive and Balintawak Market along EDSA will soon have to find alternate routes. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that they will be closing the said U-turn slots next week.
On November 23, 2020, the MMDA will be closing the aforementioned U-turn slots along EDSA in order to make the Carousel Bus routes run more efficiently. Originally, the U-turn slots were supposed to be closed immediately last September 28, 2020. However, the MMDA decided to defer the closing of some of the U-turn slots at a later date.

Motorists that normally take the U-turn slots near Oliveros Drive and Balintawak Market are advised to take alternate routes in order to get to their destinations. For southbound motorists, motorists can make a U-turn at the General Malvar/Bagong Barrio slot. Meanwhile, vehicles heading northbound are advised to take the U-turn slot near General Tino.
With the MMDA plan to close more U-turn slots near Balintawak and Caloocan, all affected vehicles will have to make a turn at Monumento Circle (from northbound to southbound), and Balintawak Cloverleaf (from southbound side to northbound) towards their destination.

While this may be seen as a sort of hassle for motorists that usually use the U-turn slots, it will reduce the chance of vehicles getting into an accident with the carousel buses. However, expect heavier traffic at the new designated U-turn slots as more vehicles will have to use them.
