The 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon will see Nissan bring three unique concepts that give the new-generation Leaf, along with the refreshed X-Trail and Urvan NV350 a new look. Called the Grand Touring Concepts, each one bears a unique exterior design that makes it have a more striking appearance.
Beginning with the Urvan GT, the van gets a predominantly dark exterior finish, with the front fascia and roof bearing a matte black paint. Also receiving the black paint treatment include the V-Motion front grill, front badge, side mirror caps and the wheel lip moldings. Providing additional visibility comes courtesy of a LED light bar while a luggage roof rack makes for better cargo carrying capacity. Topping it all off are new five-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich all-terrain tires.
Next up is the rugged-looking X-Trail GT. The crossover gets a unique paint job along with black chrome placed on the V-Motion grill and badges. The front and rear bumpers, as well as the side skirts receive a rough-textured finish which may act as brushguards for the X-Trail. The side mirror caps, door handles and portions of the wheel lip moldings are also painted black. Rounding everything up are the large black alloy wheels and additional body graphics.
Finally there's the Leaf GT which comes with a gray-on-black finish. Compared to the stock EV, the Grand Touring concept version gives the electric hatchback a sportier look thanks to the two-tone paint job, unique bodykit and aftermarket-style alloy wheels.
There is no word if the concepts will go into production. Our best guess is that the Grand Touring Concepts may be a prelude to new model variants beside the already growing Nismo brand.
The 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon will take place at Makuhari Messe, Mihama-ku, Chiba Prefecture from January 12 – 14.
