PIMS 2022: Mazda reveals special-edition MX-5, CX8 AWD Exclusive
New Mazda CX-8 and MX-5 25th anniversary edition makes PH debut
Mazda Philippines brought out something new for the 8th Philippine International Motor Show - the MX-5 Miata Club of the Philippines (MCP) Anniversary Edition and a new variant of the CX-8 luxury SUV.
The manufacturer prides itself in its relationship with the Miata Club of the Philippines, which is why Mazda is releasing, on a limited run, the MX-5 25th MCP Anniversary Edition. Deliveries will start today until September 15, 2023 only.
It will come exclusively in Platinum Quartz Metallic with a Navy Blue soft top, Navy Blue accents on the side mirrors and roll hoops, and Satin Silver 17-inch alloy wheels. The cabin gets a special Mazda Connect Commander knob and serial number plate finished in Sterling Silver, black leather seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a 9-speaker Bose sound system. Each unit comes with a commemorative car cover and the MCP 25th Anniversary Photobook.
The MX-5 MCP 25th Anniversary Edition is available in manual and automatic variants with a special price of PHP 2.250 million and PHP 2.300 million respectively. Reservations made during the week of PIMS get a special price applicable in all Mazda dealerships nationwide.
The CX-8 is a three-row SUV that comes in either six- or seven-seater configuration and is one of the most luxurious models in Mazda’s lineup. It has Deep Nappa leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, a 10-speaker Bose sound system, three-zone climate control, an electric glass sunroof, a seven-inch LCD instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, frameless rearview mirror, Sen Wood interior trim, multiple USB ports, and a hands-free power tailgate.
New exterior features include a gun metallic front grille, a front bumper chrome garnish, redesigned 19-inch alloy wheels, larger dual tailpipes, and new body colors.
Mazda’s i-Activesense will now come standard on the CX-8. This suite of safety features includes High Beam Control (HBC), Smart City Brake Support – Forward (SCBS-F), Smart City Brake Support – Reverse (SCBS-R), and Driver Attention Alert (DAA). It will complement the current set of safety features that include 6 SRS airbags, an anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, dynamic stability control, lane departure warning with lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring with rear-cross traffic alert, and a 360-degree camera with front and rear proximity sensors.
The CX-8 still uses the same 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G engine with 190 PS and 252 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed automatic. It has G-Vectoring Control Plus and a new Off-Road Traction Assist feature that simulates having a locking differential by automatically reducing the engine torque and increasing the braking force on the wheels without traction while simultaneously transferring power to the wheels still on the ground.
The new Mazda CX-8 FWD Signature 7-Seater is priced at PHP 2.330 million, while the CX-8 AWD Exclusive 6-Seater goes for PHP 2.490 million.
