Omoda & Jaecoo Motor Philippines arrived at the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) to preview what could become its most premium offering yet: the Jaecoo J8 SHS.

Joining the newly launched J5 EV at the brand’s display, the J8 SHS gives Juan dela Cruz a glimpse of the company’s flagship plug-in hybrid SUV, which is expected to sit at the top of the local Jaecoo lineup once it's officially launched.

While Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines has yet to reveal the complete local spec sheet, the Department of Energy (DOE) has already recognized the J8 SHS as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle for the Philippine market.

Based on DOE-listed specifications, the flagship SUV combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that churns out 142 PS and 215 Nm of torque, with a dual-motor electric powertrain. In overseas markets, the J8 SHS is advertised with up to 605 PS and 915 Nm of combined system output, and up to 169 km on pure electric power under the NEDC testing cycle.

Built on the same platform as Chery’s flagship Tiggo 9 (AKA the Tiggo rEV), the J8 SHS is a three-row SUV positioned above the J7 and is expected to serve as Jaecoo's range-topper in the Philippines.

Visually, the J8 SHS carries a more upscale appearance than its smaller siblings, featuring a large front grille, slim lighting elements, flush door handles, and a more commanding road presence. Its larger footprint also promises increased passenger and cargo space, making it a potential option for buyers looking for a family-oriented SUV with electrified power.
