Toyota Motor Philippines was very busy launching new and updated vehicles last 2020.

Despite the on-going pandemic and the strict quarantine measures last year, the automaker was able to launch several vehicles including the refreshed Fortuner/Hilux, updated Wigo, facelifted Vios, and the Corolla Cross.

For 2021, the automaker will have another busy year. As we speak, they are currently preparing to launch a fleet of new vehicles. One of those vehicles is apparently the Yaris Cross. That's right, the B-segment crossover that debuted last year will be coming to the Philippines.

According to an insider who wished anonymity, several dealers in the country have already started ordering units of the Yaris Cross. The initial units, however, will not yet be offered to customers. Instead, the company is still gauging how many units of the Yaris Cross will be ordered for the first batch.

But when will the Yaris Cross be launched in the country? Supposedly, the new crossover will make its local debut sometime in late Q1. That means the Yaris Cross could make its way here in March. Estimated pricing of the crossover is also not yet available. Given that it will slot below the Corolla Cross, the Yaris Cross will most likely be more affordable. For reference, the base Corolla Cross starts at PHP 1.285 million. 

Available engines that may be offered on the PH-spec Yaris are a choice between 2 three-cylinder motors. The first one is a 1.5-liter, naturally-aspirated three-cylinder that makes 120 PS and 145 Nm of torque. The other engine is the hybridized version of the former which has a combined system output of 116 PS. Both engines are mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

With the Yaris Cross set to arrive in the country in Q1 of this year, customers that wish to get a crossover from Toyota will have more options to choose from.
