Last April 16, a 7.3 magnitude earthquake hit the Kumamoto Prefecture that left over 40 dead and the suspension of production plants in the nearby areas. With Japan in the middle of recovering from the earthquake, Toyota has announced that they will be restarting production in some of the plants starting April 25, Monday.

The first plant to restart will be the Tutsumi plant which manufactures the Prius, Camry and the Japanese Market only Premio and Allion. Also restarting that day will be the Iwate and Higashi plant which builds the Century, Crown, Crown Comfort, Comfort, Isis, Corolla Fielder, and the export market Corolla.

On April 26, Toyota will resume production in the Miyagi parts plant, as well as the Takaoka and Tahara plants. The Takaoka plant produces the Corolla, iQ and Auris while the Tahara plant handles production for the Lexus LS, GS, IS, GX, RC, RAV4, Wish, Land Cruiser, 4Runner, Vanguard and some engines. April 27 sees the restarting of the Fujimatsu plant which builds the Estima, Estima Hybrid, Voxy, Noah and Prius. By April 28, the mentioned plants will be fully operational along with the Yoshiwara factory.

Factories to remain suspended are the Motomachi Plant, Inabe Plant and the Miyata Plant which is located in Kyushu. The Miyata plant builds Lexus vehicles which includes the RX and NX crossovers, GS and ES sedans and the CT hybrid hatchback. Toyota says production will be on hold in the mentioned plants due to ongoing tremors in the affected areas. The company adds that the vehicle production plans detailed remain subject to change.
