After previewing their newest electrified MPV last year and even demonstrating that it can go the distance in various road conditions after covering over 7,000 km in 47 days, Toyota Astra Motor Indonesia has officially revealed the Veloz Hybrid.

Powered by a 1.5L hybrid powertrain, the Veloz Hybrid takes the best features of the stylish MPV and applies them to the entire model lineup. That's right, the Veloz is now only available as a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), as the 1.5L ICE version is no more.

The Veloz Hybrid gets the same 1.5L 2NR-VEX hybrid system as the Yaris Cross Hybrid and the Ativ Hybrid. The engine alone makes 91 PS with 121 Nm of torque, while an electric motor that's powered by a small battery pack provides an additional 80 PS.

This gives the Veloz Hybrid a combined system output of 111 PS and 141 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to the front wheels via a CVT. Despite only having a 43-liter fuel tank, the Veloz Hybrid can average up to 28.9 km per liter, which means it can do nearly 1,000 km under ideal conditions.

Design-wise, the Veloz Hybrid still looks relatively the same as the non-hybrid versions. However, it gets some subtle changes here and there to signify its electrified status. On high-grade models such as the Q and Modellista variants, the Veloz Hybrid in Indonesia comes with 17-inch black alloy wheels, black door handles, new front & rear underguards, dark chrome trim elements, and HEV emblems.

Open the doors, and the interior of the Veloz Hybrid remains relatively the same as the non-hybrid versions. However, it does get new amenities and niceties, such as soft-padded door armrests, new black leather-fabric upholstery, blue LED ambient lighting with blue accents on the center console to signify its hybrid powertrain, and a rear seat entertainment display.

Other available features include a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment display with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument panel with various display modes, a wireless charging pad, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control, push-button start, and automatic climate control.

For extra peace of mind, the Veloz Hybrid comes with the brand's Toyota Safety Sense. This gives the hybrid MPV intelligent driver aids like adaptive cruise control, pre-collision warning with autonomous braking, lane departure warning with prevention, rear-cross traffic alert, pedal misoperation control, a new 360-degree camera system, and blind-spot monitoring.
