2023 Suzuki S-Presso debuts in ASEAN with start/stop tech and additional safety features
Remember when Suzuki launched the upgraded S-Presso for the Indian market? Revealed just last year, the tiny high-riding vehicle not only received a new 1.0-liter K10C three-cylinder under the hood, but it also got a wide array of safety features and amenities.
Fast forward to 2023, and the upgraded Suzuki S-Presso has officially made its way to Southeast Asia. First debuting in Indonesia, the S-Presso also comes with the now-familiar 1.0-liter K10C engine that makes a humble 67 PS with 90 Nm of torque. While it doesn't exactly get a power boost, it does now benefit from Idle Start/Stop technology that further improves its fuel economy.
More importantly, buyers now have a choice between a standard 5-speed manual transmission or the 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) dubbed Auto Gear Shift (AGS). It combines the benefit of an automatic gearbox with the frugality of a manual transmission but without the hassle of having to operate a clutch pedal.
Like the one sold in India, the S-Presso for the Indonesian market now also comes with additional safety features in the form of the following; hill-hold control (only for the AGS), an electronic stability program, and dual front airbags. In terms of amenities, the high-riding hatchback now comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering wheel audio controls, and electric side mirror adjustment.
With the upgraded S-Presso now in Indonesia, perhaps it's only a matter of time before Suzuki Philippines brings it here. And with the 2023 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) all set this coming April, we could see Suzuki launch it there. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed that is what will happen two months from now.
