Would the Nissan Z9 pickup truck work in PH?
The Z9 is available with turbo-gas and turbo-diesel engines and will also come with hybrid power

The next-generation Nissan Navara has yet to be revealed for world markets. But over in the PRC, the automaker, together with Dongfeng, has just released an all-new pickup truck that's bigger than the Navara.
After being spotted last September 2024, Nissan Dongfeng has officially launched the Z9 pickup truck. The Dongfeng-co-developed pickup truck is underpinned by a new platform that makes it marginally bigger than its midsize sibling. It measures 5520mm long, 1960mm wide, 1950mm tall, and has a 3300mm wheelbase. This makes the dual-cab Z9 pickup as big as the likes of the GWM Cannon and the JMC Grand Avenue trucks.

Style-wise, the Z9 gets a futuristic look that's highlighted by Z-shaped LED lighting signatures and is complemented by a massive chrome grille. It also has a faux skid plate on the front bumper, generous black body cladding, massive alloy wheels, and sleek LED taillights. The bed, meanwhile, features an upward curve design which gives the pickup a more dynamic appearance.

Inside, the Z9 features a pair of high-definition displays. One serves as the instrument cluster while the latter is the touchscreen infotainment system. There also appears to be an electro-mechanical gear selector, buttons for the climate control/HVAC system, and a full leather upholstery. Last but not least is a two-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel complete with multi-function controls.

Under the hood, the Z9 will be available with a wide array of powertrains. There's a 2.0L turbocharged gasoline inline-four which makes 261 PS and a 2.3L turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine that delivers 190 PS and a generous 500 Nm of pull. There will also be a hybrid variant although no exact details have been revealed yet. However, reports say that it's expected to produce over 440 PS and crank out 800 Nm of torque. In addition, it will supposedly have a range of over 1,100 km combined.

Production of the Nissan Dongfeng Z9 will begin later this month although there's no word yet if the pickup truck will be offered outside the People's Republic. Would this pickup truck make sense in the Philippines should it be offered here? And would it serve as an alternative to the Navara?
