Earlier this year, Nissan released teaser photos of the next-generation Skyline, which is set to succeed the current V37 model that has been around since 2014.

With only a little over three months left in 2026, Nissan is looking to cap off its first full year of recovery on a high note. Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa has confirmed with Asahi Shimbun that the 14th generation Nissan Skyline is set to debut in December 2026.

The new generation model, which is internally tagged as the V38, is being positioned as a symbol of Nissan’s turnaround story. Espinosa calls it “one of the icons of the renaissance of Nissan”, as the Japanese manufacturer wants to show it could match, or even outmatch the pace of other brands when it comes to developing vehicles, flexing its newfound motivation in enhancing its engineering capability. 

Nissan was able to cut the next-generation Skyline’s development cycle to roughly 26 months – about 50% faster than what the current-generation Skyline took to reach production. The Japanese manufacturer cites the help of AI and digital tools in accelerating its development process.

As shown from the teaser photos back in April, the V38 Skyline will have design cues inspired by previous generation models, such as the signature Skyline “S” emblem, and the iconic circular taillights making their way to the new generation model.

Nissan has already confirmed the V38 Skyline will be powered by an internal combustion engine, but is yet to go into specifics when it comes to engine layout, cylinder count, or transmission choices.

Enthusiast speculations suggest the new model could utilize the Nissan Z’s 3.0-liter, twin turbo V6, producing around 400 PS and 475 Nm of torque, along with the 9-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels.

An Infiniti-badged version called the Q60 could also be offered shortly after the all-new Skyline is launched, but what’s worth noting is that the December debut coincides with the returning NISMO Festival. Nissan is yet to confirm that event as the launchpad for the all-new model, but the timing is fueling guesswork among fans and enthusiasts of the brand.
