AlphaTauri flips its colors for 2021 Formula 1 season
AlphaTauri used all its development tokens on aerodynamic upgrades. Could a new nose get them another win?

Scuderia AlphaTauri has launched its 2021 car in an online event. They launched it with their new AW21 (Autumn/Winter 2021) clothing collection. This comes as no surprise since AlphaTauri is Red Bull's premium clothing brand.
The launch event was held at AlphaTauri’s new showroom in Salzburg, Austria.

So, what's new with the race car? Dubbed the AT02, it features an all-new matte blue and white livery. They essentially flipped the color scheme of last year's car. But AlphaTauri says the biggest changes were centered around the aerodynamic efficiency of the vehicle. That update is most notably seen on the AT02's new nose. The more aerodynamic frontage has also enabled the team to redesign the front suspension.
Piloting the AT02 will be Pierre Gasly, and rookie Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda, AlphaTauri team principal Franz Tost relayed how optimistic he is about the driver duo.“The decision to go for Pierre and Yuki in 2021 was taken because Scuderia AlphaTauri’s philosophy is still to give talented young drivers from the Red Bull Junior Program the opportunity to step up to F1 and to educate them – this is why Yuki now gets his chance,” said Tost.

AlphaTauri (formerly Toro Roso) had always been considered Red Bull’s development team, but last year proved that AlphaTauri can succeed on its own. In what was a very topsy-turvy 2020 season, Pierre Gasly was able to secure his first win in the sport during the Italian Grand Prix in Monza. Don’t think for a second that his teammate this year is a pushover, Yuki Tsunoda was awarded the Anthoine Hubert best Formula 2 rookie in 2020, making him someone to watch out for.
