Bahrain GP: Hulkenberg to sub for Vettel

Formula One is already having its twists and turns unfolding in the run-up to the season-opener in Bahrain.

Lewis Hamilton wants to add Larbalestier to his name, Mercedes' questionable mirrors were cleared by the FIA, and now, after McLaren's Daniel Ricciardo has been cleared to race, another driver has tested positive for coronavirus.

Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One team has announced on Facebook that four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel has caught the coronavirus and that he won't be racing in the Sakhir International Circuit this weekend.

Vettel's replacement is no other than F1 veteran Nico Hülkenberg. The 34-year old German is Aston Martin's reserve driver, having previously stood in for Sergio Perez in 2020 when the Mexican also had to be sidelined prior to the British Grand Prix.

Hülkenberg will be behind the wheel of Aston Martin's AMR22 Formula One car beginning at the first free practice session of the Bahrain Grand Prix which will start tomorrow, March 18.

Formula One's new era clearly is shaping up to be full of surprises. But what we're most looking forward to is when the five red lights go out this Sunday.
