Indy 500's most powerful pace car is the 765 HP Corvette ZR1
Most powerful Corvette ZR1 to serve as official pace car at 2018 Indy 500

Late last year, we saw Chevrolet unleash the most powerful Corvette ZR1 to date. With more than 760 PS and nearly 970 Nm of torque on tap, the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 is capable of catapulting the ZR1 from 0 – 97 km/h in 2.85 seconds and reach a top speed of more than 340 km/h.
Now, the 2019 Corvette ZR1 will serve as the official pace car of this year's Indy 500. Featuring a unique exterior livery as well as a huge carbon fiber rear wing, this marks the 15th time a Corvette has served as the official pace car of the Indy 500 since 1978.

“Chevrolet is proud to once again pace the Indianapolis 500. The ZR1 is the most powerful and fastest Corvette ever made. It’s the perfect choice to pace ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing',” said Steve Majoros, Marketing Director for Cars and Crossovers at Chevy.
The 2019 Corvette ZR1 Indy Pace Car does not veer away from its production roots as it still comes factory stock parts / components. The high output LT5 V8 motor benefits from direct injection and supplemental port injection, along with a supercharger-intercooler system. The result is 765 PS and 969 Nm of torque. It is then mated to an eight-speed 8L90 automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
Other upgrades present include a Magnetic Selective Ride Control, Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, ZR1 chrome-aluminum wheels (19-inch at the front, 20-inch at the rear), performance-grade suspension, electronic differential and sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.

As for its exterior, the ZR1 Pace Car come with a ZTK Performance Package comprised of an adjustable carbon fiber rear wing, unique Indy 500 body graphics and a GM Design safety strobe light system.
The all-new Corvette ZR1 pace car will be present at the 2018 Indy 500 on Sunday, May 27, along with all of the 14 previoius Corvette pace cars.
